Seeing Red

Tanglestar called his clanmates for a Clan meeting. Snowfall limped from the nursery, her kits tumbling out of the nursery beside her. The apprentices who had been sharing a meal stopped what they were doing and huddled around the emberstone, letting the warriors sit on one side of the stone.

"Cats of EmberClan," Tanglestar started. "I'd like to say that I appreciate Adderstrike," he looked at his brother who was sitting by the medicine cat, Brokenfeather, "and the two apprentices, Blackpaw and Swiftpaw, apologize to Blackice and Smallpaw." The small silver she-cat ducked, slightly embaressed while Crescentpaw nudged her. Blackice dipped his head to show there were no hard feelings.
"Also, I'd like Thunderstrike to lead a border patrol and report back to me if you find or see anything unusual.
"That is all, Clan dismissed!" Tanglestar meowed and leaped off of the emberstone.

The warriors and apprentices gathered around Thunderstrike, curious on who he'd pick for the first, official patrol.
Thunderstrike let his blue eyes scan his clanmates' waiting faces. "Silverfang, Blackice, Nightwing, and Blazepaw," he meowed.

Sleetkit and Mistykit looked discouraged. "We want to go!"
Snowfall let out a mrrow of laughter. "You'll have time to go on patrols once you are apprenticed," the queen meowed patiently.
"But that's not for a long time!" Mistykit complained while Snowfall ushered her kits back into the nursery as Thunderstrike led his patrol into the forest.

The forest was quiet. The only sound was the wind blowing through the leaves of the tree canopy and the soft patter as the cats moved through the forest. The territory becoming easier to remember.
Suddenly their was a sharp yelp and a yowl of rage.
Startled, Nightwing's fluffy black fur puffed out. "What is that?" She hissed.
"I don't know, let's go check it out," Silverfang meowed while Blazepaw flexed his claws with anticipation.
Thunderstrike pushed forward, his walk turning into a sprint and soon he was bursting through the small clearing. What he saw surprised him.

Two cats were battling with a fox. The she-cat's eyes were locked on the snapping jaws as she clawed at it's muzzle and legs. The tom had leaped on top of the fox and was now digging his claws into it's side to hold himself from falling off of the creature's back while he used his backlegs, clawing at it's back fiercly.
Thunderstrike leaped into action and shoved the fox with his shoulder, setting it off balance but it didn't loose it's focus.
Nightwing, Blackice and Silverfang raced behind Thunderstrike and unsheath their claws. The she-cat, seeing that they were here to help stepped back and flopped down, her sides heaving.
Blazepaw scanned the clearing and spotted a gray and white she-cat with wide, scared hazel eyes. She was crouching low near the bushes, making her pelt blend into the forest. "Hey!" Blazepaw called and crept forward, "Who're you?"
The she-cat didn't take her eyes off of the fight.
"I asked who you were," Blazepaw meowed, obviously impatient as he stepped infront of her.
Not realizing he was there the she-cat hissed and leapt back.
Blazepaw took a step back, "I'm not here to hurt you. Who're you?"
"M-Mallowpaw," She managed to stutter out. Her gaze going back to the fight.

Suddenly there was a final blow and a last yelp as the fox burst through the brambles and ran off. Thunderstrike, Nightwing, Blackice, and Silverfang were panting as the cats thanked them.
"What're you doing on EmberClan territory?" Thunderstrike asked. His voice had a slight demand to it.
"That fox... attacked her..." The tom panted and turned his amber eyes on Mallowpaw. "We heard and ran to help. I'm Owlsight. This is my sister Songstream. We don't know who she is. Just thought we should help."
"That was very brave of you two," Silverfang noted.
"Thanks," Owlsight meowed.

Just than a rusty colored she-cat emerged from the ferns. "I heard yelping and yowls," she said. "I though their might be trouble."
"There was," Songstream meowed. "A fox, we drove it off with the help of these Clan cats."
"Clan cats?" The she-cat asked with interest.
"Yes," Blackice meowed, "Why?"
"I was looking for a Clan. I'd like to join."
"Me too," Mallowpaw spoke up as her and Blazepaw walked over.
"Perfect," Thunderstrike meowed.
"You're looking for more joiners?" Owlsight asked. "If you want, we'd like to join as well."
Blazepaw watched the cats, his amber-green gaze lighting up with excitment. His first patrol and it was a success!
"Let's get back to camp and report this to Tanglestar," Thunderstrike meowed and waited for the other cats to follow.

The Healing Touch

Silverfang's mind flashed to memories of the past. Being a rouge wasn't hard but it wasn't easy either. Unlike a Clan, you didn't have to feed anyone else but yourself. But when you grew old, no one was there to take care of your aching joints or tics. You had to deal with it. Yes. A Clan was much better. It provided safety and a home.

The gray tabby was waiting patiently for her apprentice at the camp entrance when she heard Blackpaw meowed, "Race you there!" Swiftpaw didn't have a chance to reply as Adderstrike came sprinting over almost colliding with her as she stepped by and meowed calmly, "Watch where your going." Toms. Does everything have to be a compition?

Soon Blackpaw and Swiftpaw ran over, Swiftpaw in a slight lead as he skidded to a halt at Silverfang's paws. "I win!" The black and white tom meowed.
"No! I did!" Blackpaw intervined. "You were behind me!"
"No," Swiftpaw countered.
But before the toms could get into an argument Adderstrike poked his head through the thorn barrier, he was panting, trying to catch his breath. "You coming?" The brown tabby asked.

"Yeah!" Swiftpaw meowed and raced out of the camp, closely followed by Blackpaw. Silverfang sprang after the toms.
Deeper they walked into the forest. Adderstrike in the lead, followed by Swiftpaw and Blackpaw, and Silverfang taking the back. She didn't know the territory as well as Adderstrike, therefore she let the immature tom lead.

Adderstrike suddenly stopped and scented the air, causing Swiftpaw running into him. "Oof! Watch where your going, Adderstrike!" The black and white tom complained.
"Sssh!" Adderstrike hissed, and covered Swiftpaw's mouth with his tail. "Cats."
Silverfang also scented the air. She could smell three different scents. Though it seemed one of them was going in a different direction. "Maybe it's a loner or kittypet just passing through." She suggested.
"Not on my territory!" Adderstrike hissed and crept forward. He flattened to the ground just enough that his belly fur barely brushed the forest floor.
Swiftpaw and Blackpaw crept up behind him, while Silverfang lingered at the back.
The brown tabby peered through the ferns, his brilliant green eyes narrowed into slits as he spotted a tom and a young she-cat walking towards the EmberClan camp.

Silverfang, seeing that the toms were occupied went to investigate the third scent.
She padded forward until the scent was strong. It was a tom. He didn't have any fear scent or anger and by the noise he was making it didn't seem as if he were trying to hide.
Silverfang stepped out from her hiding place and confronted the tom. His eyes widened, not with fear but with surprise. "EmberClan cat, right?" The brown tabby meowed.
"Yes. You are?" Silverfang challenged lightly.
"Brokenfeather. I'd like to talk to your leader-" Whatever he was going to say was cut short as Silverfang heard a screech and hissing.
"Come on, follow me!" She meowed and spun around, she didn't wait for the tom to reply.

"Get him, Adderstrike!" Swiftpaw encouraged as Silverfang burst through the bracken. She saw Adderstrike and the other tom struggling in a fight. Swiftpaw and Blackpaw were lashing out at the small she-cat. "Leave them be!" She shoved aside Swiftpaw who snarled in defiance.
Adderstrike broke away from the tom as Brokenfeather limped into the clearing. "What's going on?" He asked.
"Who's he?" Adderstrike hissed.
"A medicine cat." Brokenfeather awnered calmly, not afraid of the tom.
"And who are you?" Silverfang asked the tom and she-cat.
"Blackice, and this is my younger sister, Smallpaw. You won't hurt her will you?" He shot a glance at Adderstrike.
"Of course not," Silverfang meowed. "Let's try to get to camp without any arguments," and before anyone could say anything she turned around and guided the cats back to camp.

When all seven cats reached the camp, Tanglestar was in camp sharing tounges with Thunderstrike and Nightwing. Blazepaw and Sweetpaw were playing with Sleetkit and Mistykit while Snowfall rested in the sun.
Her eyes flitted open as she called her kits over and hustled them into the nursery when she spotted Blackice and the new cats. Blazepaw and Sweetpaw's ears perked and the padded forward but were stopped by Thunderstrike.
"Who have we here?" Tanglestar asked as he got up and went to greet the cats.
"Blackice, and his younger sister Smallpaw," Silverfang awnsered before Adderstrike. "And Brokenfeather, who's trained in the ways of a medicine cat."
Tanglestar's eyes lit up. "Interesting." He than noticed the scratches on Smallpaw, Blackice, and Adderstrike. "What happend?" He demanded.
"This mouse-brain attacked us," Blackice meowed. "And these two apprentices ganged up on Smallpaw."
"Is this true?" Tanglestar's eyes blazed as Adderstrike reluctantly nodded. "Are you wanting to join EmberClan? Though I wouldn't blame you if you wouldn't anymore." Tanglestar added.
"Yes," Brokenfeather and Blackice meowed together.
"As soon as I am finished the ceremony I want you three to see Brokenfeather in the medicine cat's den. We didn't need anymore scratches after the fox attack but you proved this wrong.

Tanglestar leaped onto the emberstone. "Let all cat's old enough to catch their own prey join beneath the emberstone for a clan meeting!" He yowled.
Snowfall poked her head out of the nursery as Sleetkit and Mistykit stumbled out, sitting near the entrance.
"I am honored to say that Brokenfeather will become EmberClan's first medicine cat. I put my trust in him as well as the trust of the rest of the clan."
"Also, I'd like to announce the arrival of Blackice, who'd ask to become my senior warrior. Knowing that I don't have a deputy I'd love to have him around. His younger sister, Smallpaw will remain as an apprentice, I'd like Thunderstrike to mentor her. Crescentpaw, since you don't yet have a mentor I want Blackice to mentor you. Blackice, Adderstrike, Smallpaw, go see Brokenfeather and ask him to treat your scratches. I don't want anymore fighting within the Clan.

That is all, Clan dismissed."

The Beginning

Tanglestar was talking quietly with his brother. Fairly recently the newly made EmberClan had suffered a tragic fate. A group of rouge foxes had trampled into their camp and caught the cats of EmberClan off guard. Fighting for their lives as well as their new home, the cats of the Clan fought hard and fierce. In the process of driving the foxes away Goldentail, a ginger tabby she-cat had joined StarClan.

But there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how dark and hopeless it seems. In the middle of the battle, two cats must of heard the racket of screeches of rage and fury because the two cats came to help EmberClan. With the help of the new cats they were able to drive the remaining foxes off.

"Thank you," Tanglestar had meowed, eternely gratefully for the help of the she-cat and young tom. "Would you like to join us?"
Nodding, the she-cat had accepted the offer, as well as the black tom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The light, sandy brown tabby leaped onto the emberstone. A bright ember that shown bright whenever the sun let it's light shine down.
"Let all cat's old enough to catch their own prey join beneath the emberstone for a Clan meeting," Tanglestar began. "Today, we suffered a great loss with Goldentail, but we also have endured a lot while we were beginning our new clan. Cats of EmberClan, I welcome Silverfang as a warrior for EmberClan. Please welcome her," He waited patiently as his clanmates, though tired and sore, called out the she-cats name. Tanglestar than turned his piercing amber gaze to Blackpaw.
"By naming apprentices it shows EmberClan is strong and will remain strong for future generations. Blackpaw, your name will remain the same until you recieve your warrior name. Adderstrike, I trust you and I hope that having an apprentice will help you mature," there was a quiet ripple of laughs that passed through the clan as Adderstrike stuck his tounge out at his brother and went to stand beside Blackpaw. "Swiftpaw, you've not yet have a mentor, Silverfang will be your mentor.
That is all, Clan dismissed."
